This newest 'rumor' around South Africa regarding the soon-to-be vacant SA Cricket coaching job is not the worst one I have ever heard.
Stephan Fleming has always been a favorite player and captain of mine. He rates among my top three best captains of the last 15 years. On top of that list I have guys like Steve Waugh, Mark Taylor and Hansie Cronje. He will surely be a positive choice as new coach of the Proteas I feel, but will CSA go for a non-South African as coach? (read more)

Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming has thrown his hat in the ring for the Proteas head coaching job after Cricket South Africa decided to extend the deadline last month.
Caretaker coach Corrie van Zyl will relinquish the Proteas position after the Cricket World Cup in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, starting next Saturday.
Van Zyl will return to his position at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
Fleming, who played 111 Tests and 280 ODIs for New Zealand, has also been linked to the India coaching job that will become available once Gary Kirsten vacates the position at the end of the Cricket World Cup.
The former Black Caps skipper is well-respected and was considered to be one of the most innovative captains on the international circuit during his years leading the team.
According to IOL, Fleming is held in “high regard” by CSA and chief executive Gerald Majola said that CSA “weren’t completely satisfied with the number of applications” and that “another big name has in addition asked that his late application be considered, as he wasn’t aware of the initial deadline.”
Kirsten is considered the top candidate to take over the Proteas job after his success with India, but the former SA opener is looking to spend more time with his family and has said he would not be willing to take on another coaching job so soon after India.
Other candidates for the job include former England coach – and current Proteas batting consultant – Duncan Fletcher, Proteas assistant coach Vincent Barnes and Cobras coach Richard Pybus.
