SOCCER TRANSFERS WORLDWIDE...Update!

ENGLAND
Chelsea complete record Torres signing
Chelsea completed the signing of Liverpool's Spanish striker Fernando Torres on Monday, the Premier League clubs confirmed.

In a statement on their website champions Chelsea said Torres had signed a five and half year contract.

SOCCER: TRANSFER Headlines...Transfer records smashed!

So, in the end I was on the button with my article last Friday, when I stated that whenever rumors start up regarding any player that do not want to stay at his current club anymore and his manager and other officials immediately start denying these exact rumors, it usually is only temporary, because a couple of days into the future and we have Torres on his way to Chelsea, Carroll from Newcastle joins Liverpool, etc., etc...

Is this a method football clubs all over uses to push up the value of their players, or what is the reasons? Is it because the negotiations are not done yet and they do not want to confirm anything before everybody has signed on the dotted line?

The British transfer record was smashed twice on Monday as Liverpool sold Fernando Torres to Chelsea but raided Newcastle United for an immediate replacement in the shape of burly England frontman Andy Carroll.

SOCCER: LATEST NEWS DIRECTLY FROM Liverpool FC...

Luis Suarez is set to become a Liverpool player in the coming hours once the paperwork involved has been completed, Kenny Dalglish has revealed.

The manager started his pre-Stoke press conference with a statement about potential transfers on deadline day.
Regarding Suarez, he said: "We'll be able to tell you more once the paperwork is completed and also once he gets his work permit, which will hopefully be today. It should be a formality. It's not a financial discussion, it's just clerical.
"I think he is a top player. He is a fantastic goalscorer. He's a good leader and he was captain of Ajax, which is unusual for a forward to be captain. That tells us something really positive about the lad.
"He will come here and we'll try and get him playing the way he played at Ajax. If he got 35 goals at Ajax, surely he has a chance of scoring some goals here as well."

SOCCER: TORRES NOT FOR SALE says Liverpool FC...?

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news

Liverpool Football Club have insisted Fernando Torres is not for sale despite the emergence of a bid from Chelsea.
When presented with the story by the media on Thursday night, a LFC spokesman dismissed any notion that the Spain international was for sale.
"Chelsea have made a bid for Fernando which has been turned down," the spokesman said. "The player is not for sale."
How many times have we not seen this sort of response from football clubs around the world, only to see that exact player, who they denied was for sale, leave for a new club a few days or weeks later?
I truly hope that this time round Liverpool is not hiding something, because the club needs Torres till at least the end of the season and beyond...!

Veteran goalkeeper from Manchester United FC will hang up his boots at the end of the current season in England, it was announced through his agency on their website.

SOCCER: LIVERPOOL WIN - Up to 7th on log...

Liverpool FC moved up to seventh on the English Premier League log after a hard-fought second victory under 'King Kelly' last night at Anfield. This was the first home win under new-old manager Dalglish.

In the 52nd minute a great strike from Torres hit the post and then came back off Fulham defender John Pantsil for an OG.

"We will take anything as any club will do," manager Dalglish told Sky Sports. "At times we played good football and deserved the bounce of the ball.
"I have seen three games and that is one of the few games we have had a little bit of good fortune."

SOCCER: LIVERPOOL NEWS - Babel quits...

Just days after Kenny Dalglish confirmed that Babel will be staying with Liverpool, it was announced that Babel quit the Club he joined back in 2007.

Dutch striker Ryan Babel on Tuesday quit Premier League side Liverpool and finalised his transfer to Bundesliga team Hoffenheim on a two year contract for a fee of seven-million euros ($9.5-million).
"I am looking forward to my new task at Hoffenheim," said the 24-year-old.
"My first impressions are very positive. I hope now to be able to quickly get into the team."
The former Ajax star could even make his Bundesliga debut on Saturday against Schalke 04.
"We are very proud to be able to sign Ryan Babel, an internationally experienced player from a top club like Liverpool," said Hoffenheim manager Ernst Tanner.

"We are convinced that he is a big addition for us with his character traits and his sporting qualities."
Babel replaces Senegal striker Demba Ba who has been loaned to Premier League side West Ham for the rest of the season after falling out with the German club when he refusing to attend Hoffenheim's winter training camp.
Babel joined Liverpool from Ajax in 2007 and played 90 Premier League games for them but failed to win a regular place in the first-team, and had scored just twice in 17 appearances this season.

SOCCER: Pienaar debuts for Spurs...

Tottenham manages to equalize late in the second half away against Newcastle United to keep in the running for a top four finish in the English Premiership. Lennon stole what looked like a good win for Newcastle, in the first minute of stoppage time and gave Spurs another point away from home.

Steven Pienaar made his debut for his new club as expected. I think he is going to do very well at Spurs - time will tell. What is your thoughts - share it with us?

SOCCER: Liverpool vs Wolves Game Report...

At last newly appointed manager of the struggling Reds team had something to smile about. A well deserved 3-0 win over second last team on the premier league log Wolves, gave Kenny Dalglish much to smile about since he took over the reigns from Hodgson two weeks ago.

Liverpool's Fernando Torres showed some return of form when he scored the first of two goals in the 36th minute. Meireles, who scored his first Liverpool goal against Everton last week, then made things even more comfortable for "King Kenny" when he doubled the lead with a spectacular 20-metre volley that flew over Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey after 50 minutes.

The third goal was then scored in extra time by Torres, making it an easy away win for Liverpool.

SOCCER: Steven Pienaar set for early debut vs Newcastle...

It was reported on the website of Tottenham Hotspurs that new signing from Everton this week, Steven Pienaar, will go into their squad for today's encounter with Newcastle United.

Harry Redknapp, coach of Spurs, said that Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Wilson Palacios were doubtful for todays match against the Magpies.

Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Ledley King (groin) also still remain sidelined.

We wish Steven good luck with his new club and hope that he will score buckets full of goals for them, starting today. What a debut it will be if he had to score against Newcastle later today...
