In the Lakers win on Monday night of 93-84 over the Grizzlies from Memphis, Lakers key player Ron Artest received an accidental blow to the nose late in the third quarter, then scored with a big shot in the fourth quarter.
Artest made a vital 3-pointer that was instrumental in Los Angeles beating the Grizzlies on Monday night. The forward said he could not remember connecting with Grizzlies center Marc Gasol at all. Gasol was called for a foul on this incident.
Memphis ace Tony Allen’s dunk took them to within two points, but the Lakers used the five turnovers the Grizzlies presented to them to go on a 11-0 scoring frenzy and took a 89-76 lead. Scores included a 3-pointer by Lamar Odom and a long-distance shot from Artest, with playing time left standing at 5:46 in the fourth quarter. The Lakers had tied the season series 2-all, but eventually ended winning three out of the four overall. A career high contribution of 22 points by Sam Young led the Grizzlies scorers.
There was an interesting rivalry between two brothers during this game when Lakers forward Pau Gasol came up against his brother Marc. Pau was part of the trade that moved him to Los Angeles earlier on. Younger brother Marc Gasol stole the honors on the scoring board after he scored ten points and grabbed a total of 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies.
