It has been almost two years since the Sports-Man's last post and he cannot truly say where he was all this time, apart from being in front of the television, watching sport and listening to what others had to say about his favourite teams, players, and more!
Maybe it was the shock and disappointing, awfully controversial quarter-final loss in the 2011 Rugby World Cup against Australia that took the sports winds out of his sails? That loss seems like last week, yet, he has moved on and the entire event is now history, and it is something that did not kill the Sports-Man, but only made him stronger...!
He has found new writing inspiration recently and he wants to make a Blogging comeback - if that is even possible? Yes, I am sure that is possible, especially in the crazy, highly entertaining, and sometimes controversial and dangerous World of International Sport. One only has to look at all the sporting highlights/low-lights that took centre stage over the past two years more or less, to know where most of the new-found inspiration came from: (in NO particular order and off the top of my head)
1. Lance Armstrong's fall (and he is still falling) from his high pedestal
2. Sir Alex Ferguson retiring as Manchester United manager after 27 years in charge (at last! Hail Sir Alex)
3. South Africa's cricket team reaching the number one ranking in test cricket
4. Vettel winning yet another world Formula 1 title - and still winning
5. Tiger Woods making us forget about his past scandals and marital tribulations by claiming back his number one spot in the golf rankings
6. Rory McIlroy losing ground on Tiger, losing the number one spot, and struggling dismally for form after signing a humongous sponsorship deal with Nike
7. The NZ All Blacks dominating the World of Rugby Union since they became World Cup Rugby Champions in 2011
8. The Springboks, under new and much deserved coach Heineke Meyer, making the number two spot behind the All Blacks their own
9. Sachin Tendulkar (the little Indian cricket god) being on the verge of retiring from cricket (he is playing in his last test as I am writing this post)
10. Ricky Ponting retiring from international cricket (and quite a few other big names retired as well)
11. WP winning the Currie Cup for the first time in 11 years (2012)
12. Racism in the Football (Soccer) World reaching disappointing new heights, with Luis Suarez from Uruguay and Liverpool at the centre of it all
13. 2014 Soccer World Cup in Brazil almost upon us
14. 2015 Rugby World Cup in the UK not too far off either
15. Messi from Barcelona and Ronaldo from Real Madrid scoring a record number of goals, and they have probably been the two best football players in the world for the last two years
16. Sonny Bill Williams - Rugby Union and Rugby League star for the All Blacks, and aspiring professional boxer beating Francois Botha "the White Rhino/Buffalo" from South Africa
17. Bayern Munich (2013) and Chelsea (2012) winning the Champions League recently
18. Andy Murray winning Wimbledon and becoming the first Englishman to do so in a very long time
19. The Olympics in Britain, which was hailed as a huge success
20. The Boston Marathon bombings

This is only 20 high- and low-lights that the Sports-Man could think of immediately, but there were obviously many others that kept him and millions of other people glued to the radio, television, laptop, and many sports forums all over the world for the past two years. If the next two years of sport is going to be half as active, the Sports-Man is going to have plenty to write and comment about.
