JOKE OF THE DAY: Bryce Lawrence Wins Referee Award in NZ

Now, I have seen everything...!! I know I have been absent from writing on my blog for months now due to personal reasons, but this woke me up again and I had to write something regarding this farce...

Bryce Lawrence, the referee that made the most errors while handling a Test Match in the entire history of the game of Rugby, won Referee of the Year for the 4th time in New Zealand.

I know this topic is getting old for some, but I think they were just trying to rub the salt even deeper into our South African wounds with this "Joke of an Award", because if they were serious with this award, there cannot be many good referees in NZ. Alternatively, it then has to be a huge slap in the face of all the other referees in NZ...? What is going on here?

The problem is that if you are South African and you complain too much about it, all the supporters from other countries will call us 'Bad Losers', but that is definitely NOT the case with me. If Bryce Lawrence handled the game that day in exactly the same manner, but it was for example Aus vs Eng, I would still have said that he sided with the one team and that it was the worst performance by a referee that I have ever witnessed...!

It has nothing to do with the fact that my team lost on the day - I am over that and I accept the loss, but that a complete idiot of a referee like Lawrence gets away with that performance, and then still receives an award at the end of the day is what 'Grinds MY Gears'...! 

What a disgrace to Rugby and that they think we, the general rugby supporting public is stupid, is even worse...

Little Bruce was in his junior school class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up; fireman, policeman, salesman, politician. Bruce was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

 "My father's an exotic dancer in a gay club and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out with a man, rent a cheap room and let them sleep with him."

The teacher hurriedly set the other children to work on some colouring and then took Little Bruce aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"

"No," said Bruce, "My father plays rugby for Australia, but I was just too embarrassed to say".

PINK JERSEYS...And Rugby...?

With the warm-up game between the Stormers and the 'New' Boland hardly at an end, I try to contemplate what stood out for me personally, from this game?

And, unfortunately, all that stood out for me from almost the entire match are the 'New Pink' rugby jerseys that the Boland Cavaliers seemingly chose as their attire for the coming rugby season. Yes, I am aware that the Boland have new plans for the future with their new shareholders and coaches, etc...But did they have to go PINK?

The French started the 'Pink' invasion a couple of years back and I had NO problem, because it is the French and you may expect that from them. But why change traditional colours like the Boland's black and old gold jerseys of yester-year? I really do not get it...Can someone please explain this to me?

Fashion is understandable - I get that, but why do we, especially in South Africa, keep going with the same fashion, e.g. the colour Pink, fo so long? I think it has been more than five years now?

It is going to be a long season for me - I might end up getting 'Pink Eyes'.

Well done - The mystery Springbok rugby player we posted yesterday is indeed the late Ruben Kruger.

He is one of my all-time Toughest Rugby players ever and someone who was one of the stars in Francois Pienaar's side which won the 1995 Rugby WC in South Africa. Here is a more information regarding the great Blue Bull and Springbok, Ruben Kruger.

Career

Kruger played for the South Africa national rugby union team between 1993 and 1999. In 1995, he played in the Rugby World Cup. During this tournament, he made 5 starts, and scored 1 try, in the controversial semi-final against the France national rugby union team. He also played in the 1999 World Cup.

At club level, Kruger represented the Currie Cup teams of the Free State Cheetahs and the Blue Bulls. In 1995 Ruben Kruger was named South African Rugby Football Union's player of the year. At the end of his rugby career, he became a camera salesman. He owned a Minolta franchise in Pretoria. He was portrayed in Invictus, a film about Nelson Mandela and the 1995 Springboks, by Grant Roberts.

Kruger died in Pretoria on 27 January 2010 after battling brain cancer for 10 years. He was two months short of his 40th birthday.^[2]

NEWLANDS RUGBY Stadium - What a sight...!

The sight of this Historic Sports ground gives me the proverbial goosebumps...I love it!

Newlands Rugby Stadium is so rich with history. Just think of all the Rugby Legends from all over the world that ran onto this field and played their hearts out for their respective countries...There's the goosebumps again...yummy! The mountain in the background...Beautiful sight.

Remember all those magnificent tries that was scored in the past at both ends of the field? I can remember some of the greatest tries from yester-year like it was last season! Carel du Plessis bobbing and weaving through the defense - side-stepping and scoring in the corner!

I feel like singing:   Come-on Winter, come-on, come-on...!!

SUPER 15 RUGBY: NEW-LOOK SHARKS Jerseys...Pictures!

The Natal Sharks will wear the New-Look black jerseys for all home games, and the white jersey for all away games. This obviously depends if there is no clash with the oppositions jersey colours. 


Not bad at all - definitely better than some of their previous designs from years gone by...

RUGBY: Six Nations - Another Player to miss Six Nations...

Delon Armitage, fullback of England is sure to miss out on most of Six nations 2011 as well. He was banned for eight weeks after allegedly pushing an anti-doping officer after the London Irish vs Bath game. His ban will only end on March 16 which is three days before England's last game of the tournament against the Mighty Irish.

This turn of events is just another blow to Martin Johnson's hopes of winning the Six Nations, after he already lost Tom Croft, Lewis Moody, Courtney Lawes and Dave Attwood. These players should only be out for the first month of the competition.
