Ford sluggish in Phoenix
After its stirring domination of the Daytona 500, won by its oldest team and youngest driver, Ford Racing belly-flopped at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday. Three of its golden drivers -- Carl Edwards, David Ragan and Trevor Bayne -- finished 28th or worse in the desert.
Bayne and Ragan, who dominated the story line at Daytona on Feb. 20, were nothing more than sheet-metal casualties at Phoenix. Both young drivers hit the wall hard and messed up their race cars. Edwards, who was second at Daytona, was pushed off the Phoenix course by Kyle Busch, wrecked, returned and finished 28th.
"We just blew a right-front tire," said Ragan, who has suffered two heartbreaking weekends of racing. "We got caught up in that big wreck on the back straightaway and our UPS team did a great job of getting our car back out. (read more - http://www.news-journalonline.com/racing/sprint-cup)
