SA Protea World Cup squad for 2011 here...

Surprised omissions are:

- The experienced Mark Boucher, a senior member of the test team still, will miss this years tournament.
- David Miller, exciting young prospect, ended up losing out due to his failure to score any major runs during the first three matches against India and his place is taken by Faf du Plessis, who made an impressive debut 50 last night at Newlands.

World Cup squad:
Graeme Smith (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras, capt)
Hashim Amla (Nashua Dolphins)
Johan Botha (Chevrolet Warriors)
AB de Villiers (Nashua Titans)
JP Duminy (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras)
Faf du Plessis (Nashua Titans)
Colin Ingram (Chevrolet Warriors)
Jacques Kallis (Chevrolet Warriors)
Morne Morkel (Nashua Titans)
Wayne Parnell (Chevrolet Warriors)
Robbie Peterson (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras)
Dale Steyn (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras)
Imran Tahir (Nashua Dolphins)
Lonwabo Tsotsobe (Chevrolet Warriors)
Morne van Wyk (Chevrolet Knights)

South Africa will play India, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands in Group B. (see also my previous post about Cricket World Cup 2011, with fixtures and more!)

Kallis, captain Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers and Robin Peterson were members of the team that reached the semifinals of the 2007 World Cup, beaten by eventual champions Australia .

What do you think of this squad? Do they have the ability to win it for South Africa on the slow and low pitches of the sub continent?
