CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011 - Problems with stadiums!

The World Cup, which is being hosted by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, opens on 19 February, with organizers rushing to overcome construction delays plaguing some venues. This seems to be a too familiar headline preceding most international sporting events hosted somewhere on the sub-continent. Why is that?

We had similar problems during last years Common Wealth Games held in India. Are the organizers from these countries not equipped to organize sporting events of this magnitude? Or is it merely a lack of sufficient preparation on their side?

Surely it cannot keep happening this frequently and international bodies like the ICC must take control of the situation much earlier. Why are inspections of the relevant stadiums only being done less than a month before the tournament is scheduled to start? Something has to be done, because we have millions of people sitting on the edge of their seats anticipating this years World Cup tournament. All eyes are going to be on India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh...

What are your views please?
