2013/2014 Ashes Down Under: Huge England Collapse in First Brisbane Test

Mitchell Johnson

Australia started off badly when batting first in the first test at the Gabba, Brisbane, but that was about all they did "badly" throughout the test. In the end, the English looked out of sorts from day two onwards, especially with bat in hand.

England's heaviest defeats vs Australia (in runs)

562 runs: The Oval, 1934
409 runs: Lord's, 1948
384 runs: Brisbane, 2002
382 runs: Adelaide, 1895
381 runs: Brisbane, 2013

The Aussies beat the Poms by a whopping 381 runs and it was in particular Mitchell Johnson who rattled the English batsmen. He completed match bowling figures of 9 for 103.
