England toiled hard all day long in the field on the opening day of the third Ashes test in Perth, with six wickets to show for it, but Australia managed to score quickly and post a good first day score. Smith was the main catalyst with the bat for Australia, scoring a well-deserved century. He will continue his brilliant innings on day two.
