First Ashes Test Got Under Way In Brisbane Today ... England in Very Strong Position

Almost every single cricket fan and ex-international cricketer in Australia have been licking off their lips for the return Ashes series to start, and today, they got their wish with the first test kicking off in Brisbane, on what seemed to be a very flat pitch. However, as much as the Australian team and their supporters want to "hate" and take out their frustrations on Stuart Broad for what happened in England a while back (he did not walk after clearly knicking the ball to first slip), they will have to wait before they can sink their 'teeth' into the lanky blonde fast bowler!

Stuart Broad apparently thrives on all the criticism he has received after that earlier incident, albeit coming from mostly Australians. He knocked over five of the Australian first innings wickets and conceded 65 runs in the process. England restricted them to 273 for 8. With conditions truly favouring the batting side, Australia managed to get themselves into too many troublesome positions at the crease and their top order especially, played at balls that should have been left alone!

Day two is going to be a vital day for both teams. Australia would be looking for as many runs as possible, while England would prefer to take the remaining two wickets cheaply, and then build on a solid first innings lead.

Are you following the Ashes? Who are you tipping to win this first test, and the series?
